Victim's Rights
Harassment can involve a single incident of physical or sexual abuse. Victims of harassment have the ability to obtain a restraining order from the Court Administrator’s Office. Harassment/harassing gestures MUST have a detrimental effect OR be intended to have a detrimental effect on the individual’s privacy, safety and/or security.
Different from Order For Protection
Harassment Restraining Orders (HRO) are different from Orders for Protection (OFP). HROs involve parties that aren’t related or do not live together in the same household. If you have further questions regarding HROs and OFPs you can refer to the Blue Earth County Court Administrator’s Office or
view the Orders for Protection.
Obtaining a Harassment Restraining Order
You will need to file a petition and affidavit with the Blue Earth County Court Administrator’s Office.
The Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office does not charge for service of HROs. If you have any questions about fees stemming from the Court Administrator’s Office you can reach them at 507-594-3055, or view the
Fee Schedule.
